NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course
The NRA Basic Pistol Shooting Course (BPSC) is the nationally recognized gold standard in basic pistol training. With both classroom and live-fire instruction included, this course satisfies many NY County as well as many Out-of-State licensing requirements in order to obtain or “upgrade” permits.

This course satisfies many NY County as well as many Out-of-State licensing requirements in order to obtain or “upgrade” permits.
The NRA Basic of Pistol Shooting Course is a hands-on classroom and range training course in the safe handling and operation of pistols. Topics covered include: gun safety rules, parts and operation of both revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance,
marksmanship, and shooting range safety.
Students will receive the NRA BPSC student handbook, gun safety rules brochure and after successfully completing a student examination and range qualification, a course completion certificate.
If you are ready to start building or are looking to build on your existing skills, this course is for you.
Required items:
- A quality pistol
- 2 magazines or speed loaders
- Minimum of 100 rounds of ammunition
- Optical and hearing protection
- A baseball style cap
