NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course

The NRA Basic Rifle Shooting Course is a hands-on classroom and range training course in the safe handling and operation of rifles. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; rifle actions, parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; range rules; shooting from the bench rest, prone, sitting, standing and kneeling positions; cleaning, and continued opportunities for skill development.

Students will receive the NRA BRSC handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet and after successfully completing a student examination and range exercises, a course completion certificate.

Required items:

• A quality rifle
• Minimum of 100 rounds of ammunition
• Optical and hearing protection
• A baseball style cap

Optional but recommended items:

• Sandbag or other type of rifle rest
• Shooting mat, yoga mat, blanket or the like
