NRA HFS Instructor

Prerequisite: Possession of basic firearm safety and shooting skills, successful completion of the NRA Basic Instructor Training Course (BIT) and prior to the course, complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises.

This course teaches the knowledge, skills, and attitude essential in organizing, promoting and teaching NRA’s Home Firearm Safety Course.

This course is presented in two parts: basic instructor training (BIT,) and discipline specific instructor training, in this case Home Firearm Safety. Students will demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination. 

Students will receive the NRA Trainer’s Guide, appropriate NRA Instructor Candidate Packet (includes lesson plans for the courses(s) you are preparing to teach), and appropriate NRA basic course student packet.

*** By attending this Instructor level course you will be afforded the opportunity to successfully complete all required performance based objectives to satisfactorily prove to the Training Counselor that you possess the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to be considered for recommendation to become certified as a NRA Certified Instructor in this discipline. ***

This is a performance based course.
