*** Basic marksmanship AND basic defensive shooting skills MUST be possessed prior to enrolling in this course. Instructor candidates for this course should be intimately familiar with the NRA Basic PPITH course ***

This course teaches the knowledge, skills and attitude essential to organizing, promoting and teaching the NRA Basic Personal Protection In The Home course.

This course is presented in two parts: Basic Instructor Training (BIT) and discipline specific instructor training, in this case PPITH.

Instructor Candidates will demonstrate organizational and teaching skills via participation in practical exercises during the course, and complete an instructor certification examination.

Prerequisites: Must be a NRA Certified Pistol Instructor, have current BIT certification and have sat for the NRA Basic PPITH course. Prior to the course, candidates complete a pre-course questionnaire and demonstrate their firearm background in pre-course assessment exercises and qualification.

*** By attending this Instructor level course you will be afforded the opportunity to successfully complete all required performance based objectives to satisfactorily prove to the Training Counselor that you possess the knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to be considered for recommendation to become certified as a NRA Certified Instructor in this discipline. ***
